“Every girl is a princess, the daughter of a King...the greatest King who created and rules over everything! Little girls long to be loved, adored, and needed, and to give their hearts to a hero. God is that hero. This devotional Bible for young girls uses Scripture selections from the International Children's Bible alongside articles that help girls blossom into the princesses they were always meant to be.” This is an excerpt from the author's introduction to parents in the beginning of the book.

Sheila Walsh's devotional Bible for girls features not only excerpts from the easy-to-understand International Children's Bible, but also several articles and fun activities to compliment these excerpts.

All of the stories include a specific Bible passage to be read first. Then, this passage is expanded upon with articles that further teach the principles from the Bible passages. These include mini-articles about manners, love, obedience, forgiveness. Also, short memory verses, games, songs, quizzes, and role-playing activities that helps young girls understand Biblical principles and apply them to their lives.

I think this book is a wonderful tool for both parents and their daughters. The lessons and content are not only rich in Biblical truth—they're also colorful and fun! They foster every little girl's creativity and uniqueness, teach them to see themselves and others as God would see them, and show them how to love their families, friends, and anyone else they might encounter.

One of the main focuses in the book is family life. While it is absolutely wonderful to see godly family values being portrayed, my concern is for girls that don't come from the traditional, Biblical family (and sadly, the number of these girls is increasing every day). Many of the examples and activities are centered around a two-parent home. Some of them could be adapted to different family situations, but that could prove to be difficult.

I would definitely recommend this book to you! It is directed toward girls ages four to seven, but it touched my heart as well.
